Oh, Aizen, what are you doing?

In less than 12 hours I’m going to get blood work. Not looking forward to it exactly, but I’m glad it’s finally getting done. After this I’ll have to go to the doctor and get the papers to have an MRI and CT Scan. My mom called on Sunday and asked if I wanted to go to Eat n Park on Monday using the rest of the gift card she had. I could tell she was drunk (as always), and didn’t think she’d actually end up doing it, but I agreed. Monday came and of course she called and said she couldn’t go. The landlord said he might come fix the water and she had to be there for it. Ridiculous. If she doesn’t want to follow through with something, why ask? Not only could the landlord let himself in, but that bum she’s living with doesn’t work. Let him make himself useful. There was no reason for her to stay. So Cynthia took me out today to McDonalds. I thought she would. She usually does after my mom changes her mind. I was hoping to get up to CVS and see if they had Neocash cards, but that’ll have to wait until Cynthia takes me again.

My mom said she’s been working a lot recently, and once she starts getting money I can have my disability for myself. BS! It runs out in November, and she’s only working part time! If, by some miracle, I do get it before then I’d like to get a camera. I toyed with the idea of getting one with my b-day money, but I only got $125 (counting the $25 my mom took). I looked on Ebay and found some cheap ones, but it’s too risky, and not the buying on Ebay part. I did have a really cheap digital camera before and it was crap. It barely worked and the pictures it took were horrible quality. Then earlier this year I found that the batteries had basically disintegrated inside it and I had to throw it away. So I can’t risk spending up to $125 of the only money I have only something that could turn out to be worthless. I could get a decent one for $200 though, so I’m hoping my mom will come through this once so I can get one. I’ve wanted one for years, I’m really interested in photography as a hobby.

I thought See the Monkey Dance was the best Alfred Hitchcock Hour episode I’d ever seen… then I saw An Unlocked Window. Scared the crap out of me.

I haven’t seen any anime recently. My headphones broke again, there’s only sound coming out of one ear unless you hold the cord the right way, so I can’t watch anything until I get new ones. This did give me a chance to catch up with the scanlations of Skip Beat! and I found out that two more chapters of Gunslinger Girl were scanlated. I hadn’t read anything “new” from it in about a year, since no one’s really scanlating it. Now if someone could just get out a couple chapters of Junjou Romantica… at least Okane ga Nai is pretty regular right now. Since I’m on a forced break from anime right now I’m going to take this opportunity to get through some more manga. I have a ton of BL on here, and there’s some other manga I want to get ahead in.

Since I’m animeless I’ve had to find other things to amuse myself with. One of those things is Neopets, and the other is VDex Project. I dressed up and entered two of my pets in the Style Showdown. The first one didn’t get in, like I knew it wouldn’t, and I’m sure the second one won’t either, but I love customizing on Neopets so this was a lot of fun for me. You can see my two entries after the jump. I love VDex Project. It’s the best adoptables site out there in my opinion. Here’s me and my party looking awesome.

I’ve caught 262 Pokemon, with 224 Pokedex entries. I am this close to getting the Marsh badge. VDex is so much more fun and involving than GPXPlus, which I’ve grown bored with. VDex requires a higher level of dedication and interaction, because it’s freaking hard to catch these Pokemon, and you have to actually go get them, not just sit around the lab and shelter waiting. There needs to be more adoptables sites like this one.

In the fanlistings department I have several upcoming, and two recently finished. Code Geass: Charles and Lelouch relationship fanlisting and the fl for British comedy My Family are online. A word of caution for anyone trying to view, the last one won’t display right in all resolutions, I am still working on that little bugger. On TFL I got a most awesome approval, English actress Natalie Dormer, best known for playing Anne Boleyn on Showtime’s The Tudors (which she was awesome in). The fanlisting has been designed and I just have to code it and get it online. At TAFL my upcomings are series Ghost Hound and Mitsudomoe the angela song and Seitokai Yakuindomo ED Aoi Haru (the best thing about that stupid series), and the Mitsudomoe character Marui Hitoha.

Good Evening

I finally made myself watch the late night block on RTV. From 12-2 they play Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Night Gallery, and Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Night Gallery isn’t as good as The Twilight Zone. As for Alfred Hitchcock, they’re usually not that great shows, though some of them are pretty decent. The blame is partially on the censors back then. They had strict rules about what could play on television. One of them being the bad guy could never get away with anything. Alfred Hitchcock saved himself from having to show this, and would just say at the end of the program that the culprit had been caught. There have been some pretty nasty criminals on there, and you really want the bad guy to get what’s coming to him, but sometimes the so-called “victim” completely deserved it. Lonely Place (3-6) is one example to this. I’ve never seen the Lamb to the Slaughter episode, based on a short story by Roald Dahl, but I know the woman in that was surely apprehended at the end of the program, when she got away with it in the original (pretty hilarious by the way, the police eat the murder weapon). But last nights episode of Hitchcock Hour was the best I’ve ever seen, maybe on of the best stories of seen of anything in a while. It was funny, clever, well written, and well acted. It was called See the Monkey Dance and it’s available online from Hulu here, with many other episodes, including some Night Gallery ones. Body in the Barn was also pretty good, as well as the end of Final Performance. Part of the reason why I watch these is for Alfred Hitchcock himself. I think he’s adorable, like the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Cynthia went out with Naomi like she usually does on Fridays, and when she got back she took me down to McDonalds. We have to pass where my mom lives (and where I used to live up until a few weeks ago) and she and the white trash bastard were outside smoking. I was watching where I was walking, so I didn’t notice she was there until Cynthia said “don’t look.” My mother asked where we were going, and I looked at Cynthia because she didn’t respond or even turn her head, just kept on walking. Then my mom said in her whiny voice “You aren’t going to talk to me? Fine.” I told Cynthia she was angry because of that, and I was the one who’d get yelled at. Cynthia said she refused to talk to her while he was there, and she doesn’t owe her anything, and that my mom couldn’t be mad at me because I have no control over what Cynthia does. My mom won’t care about that. She throws tantrums like a 5 year-old, and the next time she calls I’m going to be the one who gets to listen to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if she threatened not to make my birthday cake (which she’s been saying she’s going to make since the 22nd). Cynthia says my mom is lucky I talk to her at all. And she should have known better. My mother knows I hate him, and Cynthia’s furious that my mom let him know where she lives, and now he knows what she looks like too. He keeps asking to meet her, and Cynthia says she has nothing to do with him, and he’s not getting in her house. I told her not to worry, if he tries to get in I’ll be ready to play whack-a-ass with the bowling pin. Yes, I own a real bowling pin.

My mother now owes me $40. The $20 she took in late spring (without asking), and she took the $20 Nita gave me for my birthday. She called yesterday to say Nita’s card came, and asked if she could borrow $20 from whatever she sent (it was $25), and that I could come down and witness it if I wanted. I’m not walking down the hill just to watch her open a card, then walk back up again in 90 degree weather. So I told her to just open it. She said she could have just taken the money, but thought she should ask first. It wouldn’t be the first time she took my money without asking. :yeahright: Once when I was 16 or 17 she did, and didn’t even bother to tell me. A few weeks later I found out when she said she’d pay me back. Then she had the audacity to get angry with me, for being angry with her. She couldn’t understand what was so bad about her taking the money without even bothering to pretend ask first. For some reason the concept of stealing eludes her. At least the bum finally got a job after over a month of being unemployed. It’s part time as a hostess at Pamela’s Diner. She better still look for a second job. I’ve only gotten $75 for my birthday (not including Cyndy’s money, which will probably be $40), including the $20 she took, and I’m not giving her anymore. She’s already taking my disability until November when it expires. I don’t see why I should have to pay for her cigarettes or booze, or any of the bills for a place she and her manwhore drove me out of. She doesn’t even have to pay for food, she gets almost $200 a month in food stamps, half of which is mine, and I got three TV dinners from it this month. Instead she’s using it to support the two of them, because he isn’t working either.

Choosing my icon reminded me – I finally got my Schneizel voice doll to speak! I thought it needed batteries, so I opened the bottom to see what kind (I told my mom it was the little round kind, but she still didn’t know what they were) and there were batteries in it, they just weren’t in right. I fixed them, and now every time I press the button Schneizel says “I think it’s wonderful.” I think it’s wonderful too, Schneizel! Well, another episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents starts in a few minutes. I better get downstairs.

Edit: The AHH episode was Lonely Place. It’s so disturbing.

Another Clovis Layout
Posted by Megan on July 28th, 2010

After a little over a year, I have made a new layout for Lisabee.org. The first layout to grace LBE since its conversion to WordPress was “Artistic” a Code Geass layout featuring Clovis la Britannia, and it officially debuted 7/1/09. This is the second, and the second layout to showcase Clovis. It uses fan art from Pivix (credits at the bottom), and is titled “A Light Heart.” Amber mentioned the layout being warmer than the last one, and with that and Euphy’s comment about the warm colors Clovis used in his paintings, the layout was named A Light Heart. Why Clovis? Because he’s my favorite character after Schneizel, and he’s so underrated. You never see him in graphics, so I use images of him. If you don’t understand why he’s so likable find a translation and listen to the Code Geass sound episode Teikoku no Kyoudai. Clovis actually became governor general of Area 11 for Lelouch. I have been testing this layout out for a few days now, and getting opinions on it. I decided it was finally satisfactory and decided to switch them today. This layout was hell to work with. I spent at least 30 hours struggling and tinkering with it. The layout took a little while, with about 28 layers and 3 textures, but the coding was the real issue. There were a lot of problems with it (WordPress doesn’t like me) and even after those problems were worked out I still didn’t think it was good enough to use. Now I do. Please let me know what you think, and anything you think might improve it. If there’s a problem you see I want to know, so I can find a solution that my visitors will like.

Maybe it Was McGonagall

Mmm, food. I’m still only eating once a day. I said I would and I am, even though I’m half forcing myself to do it. After I went to Cynthia’s my mood stabilized for a little bit. The last blog, Epic Troll, shows that best. Then my mom called again (she was going to the store) and just hearing from her sent me spiraling again. She called again yesterday, Cynthia said because she wanted to know how I was since I hadn’t called her. So I asked why she didn’t call, and she said it was because I didn’t call her. Then she had the audacity to call me stubborn. When someone runs you our of their home, it kind of makes it seem like you don’t want to talk to them. If she wondered how I was (which I doubt she did) her phone works. We didn’t talk much, but she wondered if Kribel’s (a bakery) took food stamps. At first I didn’t know why she was talking about getting a cake, it took me a little while to realize my birthday is now three days away. She offered to try to bake a cake, but she doesn’t have any cake pans or a spatula so I don’t know if she will. She also still does not have a job. She says no one will hire her because she’s too old, but she’s not even 50 yet. I don’t think she’s really trying. Also, our disability hasn’t gone through, so she hasn’t paid the rest of the rent. She says she’s going to drop the internet for now, and later on we’ll switch to Verizon, which I think is stupid, stupid, stupid. I don’t like Comcast, but I’m used to it and know what to expect. I have On Demand, I have the channels I want, and the caller ID comes up on the TV screen. I also saw their packages, and until Comcast Current TV, Sundance, IFC, and other channels aren’t included. I saw my mom briefly yesterday when I took Cynthia’s money down to her so she could stop at McD instead of us going. It was so hot, and when I said Cynthia and I were planning on going down later, she offered to do something nice and go get it herself. When I went down I also took the opportunity to get my cat. My mom said Allie had been very depressed and kept looking for me, and I’d been wanting to get her anyway so I did. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep her up here though. The heat isn’t bad right now, but she hasn’t drunk any water or used the litter box since she got here, and Allie is a big water drinker. She gave the water one tentative lick, and stepped into the litter for the first time an hour ago, but she immediately got out. If she doesn’t get used to it soon I’ll have to take her back. (more…)

76 Wallander Icons
Posted by Megan on July 21st, 2010

76 icons of the British television show Wallander have been added. Wallander is a British mystery/detective series of based on a Swedish series of television shows and books. It stars Kenneth Branagh as detective Kurt Wallander, and airs on BBC One in the UK and PBS in the United States. I don’t love Wallander. I don’t have the same kind of feelings for it as Poirot, which I absolutely adore, but I do it. I don’t know why. Since PBS is airing it’s last “new” Poirot episode on Sunday, I found myself missing Wallander. I found out it’s not playing until October, and since I never focus on the future, I can’t look forward to it. So I made some icons to make myself feel better. Tomorrow I’ll do a real blog post, and a couple days later I’ll add some more icons. Definitely Kuroshitsuji, but other than that I haven’t decided on which other anime/manga series to do.

You Can’t Get There from Here

Yesterday was my mom’s birthday. She’s 48 now I think. She got two cards, not including the one she got from work, 2 helium balloons from work, and a chocolate cake. And she’s getting sick with a cold. Birthdays in this family aren’t particularly great, especially for the older people.

Even though she’s getting sick, she still managed to get out today, since she’s been putting off going to the mall to get my gift card. On the way there I saw a ton of squirrels and at least 6 deer, most of them in a group. When we got there I had a cherry ICEE at the Mrs. Fields stand in the food court so I’d have the energy to walk around since I hadn’t eaten, and got a few chocolate cookies. Once I saw them I knew I had to have one, they look great (though that’s no indicator of taste). They’re called something like chewy fudge. Then we wandered around the Barnes and Noble out there for a while. I love Barnes and Noble, and the one in South Hills Village is wonderful. I looked in the manga section first. Looking around I decided Del Ray is the best US manga publisher. They keep the names right and use the honorifics. I hate when translators put the names First Last and don’t use the proper terms. I know it’s for the idiots who don’t read manga/watch anime and don’t know what it means, but they’ll never learn if they don’t see it.

I saw a lot, The Wallflower, Skip Beat, Sukuran, Monster, Bleach of course, but I didn’t get anything. I thought about getting the first Prince of Tennis since I’m going to start reading it, but none of the regulars are in it. If they’d hate Kuroshitsuji, Jiraishin (which they wouldn’t since Jiraishin never finished printing here). There weren’t any Code Geass light novels either, I would have considered getting it, and I definitely would have if any Schneizel or Clovis stuff was in it. I briefly checked the Teen section before moving on to Bios and saw Ahar’s new book Token of Darkness, but I still haven’t finished her last book Persistence of Memory, so I’ll wait til the paper back. In Biographies I had to choose between Jane Boleyn, Catherine de Medici, and the Borgia’s. The Borgia’s were pretty screwed up, so I thought they’d be the most interesting. I also found this incredibly beautiful journal (the design continues on the back, but isn’t shown). It was a little under $10. It caught my eye immediately, and once I looked inside I knew I had to have it. All the outside of the pages are in beautiful, vibrantly colored designs. You can see a little bit of the inside here. If I had I scanner I’d scan some pages in. Most of journals I buy lay untouched anyway, but this one is way to pretty to write in. I’ll have to put it somewhere safe.

After that I had to go get what was supposed to be my Visa gift card, but the mall completely screwed us over. There were signs everywhere for their new American Express cards, and they made it seem like they didn’t sell the Visa ones anymore. Then when we neared the counter I saw a small sign up there for the “US Bank Issued” Visa gift cards, and they made it seem like there was a monthly fee on them, like the Green Dot cards. The woman up there immediately swooped down and didn’t even give me a chance to look over the signs and said that there was a monthly fee on them. Either she was lying or didn’t know what she was talking about, because after I got the card and was able to read the sign, I saw that it was the same old Visa gift card, the monthly fee they were talking about was the same one they always had in place, after a year of the cards activation. So obviously they’re pushing these Amex cards and scamming people to do it. The woman also said you could activate the card online to be able to use it on the internet, and no, you can’t, that’s only for Visa. I had to have my mom call the place to get it activated for me.

My mother and I were really starving by then, so we walked from the mall to Eat’n Park, the only restaurant near there (besides crappy TGI Fridays and Olive Garden). I had my usual chicken fillets, and after complaining about how much she hates Eat’n Park, my mom finally decided to go with the salad bar. The chicken fillets come in 4 or 5 pieces and I was going to go with the 4 piece so I could try their lava cake dessert, but I thought what I always do “Well I haven’t eaten in a while, and I’m really hungry, so I think I’ll be able to do it.” Wrong. I always know that’ll happen but I never listen to my better judgement. My mom and I always sadly joke about it, we’re “fat” people (chubby really, we’re not like real fat people) who can’t eat. It’s not fair. We’re “fat” people who can’t eat like fat people. What’s the point of being “fat” if you can’t eat? We eat a little bit and we’re full. My mom only had a small plate from the salad bar with coleslaw, little tomatoes, olives, a piece of cantaloupe, lettuce, and other rabbit food and was full. It’s ridiculous. Most people eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we could never do that, no matter how light the meal was.

This is the last time we’ll be going to South Hills Village for a while. We usually don’t go there a lot anyway, just twice a year to get my cards. But it’s really going to be hard from now on. Pittsburgh Port Authority is completely messing up their schedules, cutting service, and renaming lines. Instead of the lines being named so you know where you’re going, it’s just going to be colors. Blue line, red line, etc. People don’t know what they’re doing now, no one’s going to know what to do when this crap starts next week. Now it’s going to take two buses or two street cars both ways to get to and from the mall. You have to get on the public transportation method of your choice, go most of the way, get off, get on another bus or street car, and go the rest of the way, to the mall and back. They already started doing two street cars going from the mall about a year ago. We had to do it today, and for some reason they switched the street car going back to the other side of the track, the side that’s supposed to go toward the mall, and the trolley going to the mall was on the side it’s supposed to go back on. But we had to get the first, and everyone else switching got there before us, because my mom asked for a transfer to switch cars. All this changing cars costs extra money, you have to pay for your ride halfway, then pay the rest of the way, and my mom wasn’t having it. So the jerk driver didn’t let us cross before he went, and blocked us waiting at the light. So we got to stand there for a few minutes before we could go (after that we had the mess trying to figure out what trolley to get on, since they switched sides). And that was my day. My mom’s going back to work tomorrow, so I don’t know when I’ll be out again. I never did get to go to Red Lobster, so hopefully we’ll go in a few weeks.

Before I started writing this I had to buy my anti-virus. I decided to go with Norton despite their spammy popups I’ve gotten everday since my trial expired (like 5 a day) and their large amounts of CPU usage (once it took me to 99%). But it was an ordeal. I found a coupon for 20% off on retailmenot (20OFFTOP). It took $15.40 off the $69.99 Internet Security + $6.99 download insurance, and with the $4.31 tax and $1.00 extra charge to my card it ended up costing $66.89. When I was filling out the order for it I kept getting a “session expired” error and had to start over 5 or 6 times. I finally figured out they did that to stop people from de-selecting the auto-renew since whenever I did that it redirected me to the other page. It was annoying, but I just changed it on their member website. There’ll be nothing left to charge to by then anyway. Now I finally have real anti-virus again.

Finally

Finally my sites are up again. A few days ago Holdfire decided to change their nameservers with only about a 30 min notice on Twitter. I was taking one of my breaks from the internet so I could watch anime so of course I didn’t see this. When I got online on the 24th none of my sites were working, and then I saw the notice. So I went on GoDaddy and updated the DNS info for all my domains, and some of my sites still were down. Two of them, actually, black-cello.org, and tokyoblue.org. Black-cello hosts Amber’s fls, and Tokyoblue hosts my anime ones. But all the domains would point to were a cPanel Great Success! page and cPanel 404 pages. Holdfire wasn’t the most helpful and wouldn’t directly answer any of my questions. Like when I submitted a ticket about it all they said was if I didn’t have a backup they could restore for me, I’d have to readd all my cPanel accounts and files. Then I got banned from the server for a while for downloading too many files something about too many connections, I’ve never had that prob at any other host before, and I’ve downloaded whole directories. But they said that it seemed that was the bulk of the problem I was having, and that I’d just have to make sure not to make more than 150 connections to the server. Once again completely ignoring my other question about the domains not working. I deleted black-cello.org and tried to readd it like they told me to, but it wouldn’t. Every time I did it said it wasn’t pointing to this hosts IP, and it said a different IP every time. After several times in a row I got it to add, but it still wouldn’t work so I deleted it again and started the process once more, the same thing happening each time. For some reason ns1.holdfire.net and ns2.holdfire.net weren’t working for those domains. So I switched them to GoDaddy’s parking and changed them back. Still wouldn’t work.

Eventually I found a different set of nameservers in my WHM panel as I was thinking about trying to add a new account with one of the domains and seeing if that would work. I changed ns1/2.holdfire.net to ns1/2.firedns.net. Still wouldn’t work. I had to repark the domain then change it to firedns before tokoyblue finally started displaying. I changed black-cello.org, put it back as an addon and that got it to work too. I have no idea why the regular holdfire worked for every other domain except those two, but throughout the entire thing Holdfire was thoroughly unhelpful. Not that there’s anything new there. I guess they didn’t know what the problem was so they chose to ignore it. That shows how much customers and their sites mean to them. And I know that I’m not the only one who had problems due to their screw ups that day. I didn’t have this many problems with Lypha even, well known to be one of the worst hosts ever. And even their support is better too, which is saying something. I guess that’s because Lypha is a real hosting company and not a “mom and pop.”

I’ve been thinking about switching to Shark Space, Web Hosting Buzz, or Fanst. I have uptime monitors on the first two, and I’ve used the last one before so I know it has great uptime. The only problem is I don’t have a lot of money to spend, and Shark Space and WHB both cost more than HF/FS do and I’d have to have a regular hosting account not a reseller. Those are really expensive on the first too, and Fanst doesn’t even off that or cPanel. The final and biggest issue with switching now is time. My account here needs to be paid for between early and mid April, and it’s probably going to be the end of March before I am able to get a Visa gift card. That doesn’t leave much time to get things up and checked. I’ve lost a lot of files before doing quick host changes, and I don’t want to do that again. I really don’t know what to do. I’ll see how the monitors check out before I make a decision.

On an unrelated note for some reason I’ve not only started getting a lot more spam at my fl email account, Google’s have a lot more trouble catching it. I can’t tell you how many Viagra and Meds emails I’ve deleted from my inbox that should have been easy to catch. One thing I’ve always loved about Gmail is what a good spam catcher it is. Haven’t seen this problem with my main account. And how many times can I say problem in one post?
