A Title

Ah, I’m so tired. Half the time I sleep fine, and half of the time I don’t. For the past few days I had been waking up every couple hours then last night I didn’t get to bed until 3. Why? Because my mother was out until late again, without calling again. At 11 I figured she wasn’t coming home any time soon, so I tried to go to sleep but couldn’t. I didn’t know if she was dead, going to be screaming outside for me to open the door, or if she just wouldn’t come home and call sometime the next day. At past one she called and said that she would be taking a cab home, and that she’d ring once before she got there so I could unlock the door for her. At 1:30 AM I heard her trying to get the door open. All I wanted to do was go to bed, but she wanted to bother the cat and make garlic bread. I was afraid she would hurt Allie because drunk people have no idea what they’re actually doing, and there was no way I was going to let her burn the place down because she was trying to use the oven while drunk. She still asked me several times more if I wanted garlic bread. I hate babysitting drunk people. At two I finally got her to go to bed, and eventually I fell asleep myself. I woke up a couple times, and was up for a half hour to an hour more, fell back asleep then woke up when my mom left for work at 10.

She has off a couple days next week, and then some vacation time the week after, so hopefully we’ll get out to Red Lobster and South Hills Village during that time. I miss my Crab Linguini Alfredo, and I need to get a Visa gift card at the mall so I can pay off my hosting and some of my domains. We went out twice in the past month, once to The Cheesecake Factory, and to Eat’n Park on Saint Patrick’s Day. It was a good day at Cheesecake Factory, though they skimped on the mashed potatoes. We got there right before they opened (because the longer they’re opened the worse the food gets) and there were people standing outside as always. But people are so stupid. Did the crowd of people gathered around stop others from coming up and trying to open the door? No. What were they thinking, that we were standing outside in 30 degree weather for the fun of it? And they just kept coming. Once even one person tried to open the door and failed, and then directly behind them someone else tried. They had to have seen the other person try 10 seconds before them. It’s not the sword in the stone. Did they think “well, maybe it’ll open for me?” It wasn’t a good day at Eat n Park though. It was packed since everyone was out driving around because they had nothing else better to do. Then the sticky buns were not sticky, they were cold and dry, and the gravy in my mashed potatoes had a smashed up piece of tomato in it. How does that even happen? We waited forever to get the bill too, because the waitress was chatting with some guy in another booth for a while. After that we walked up to Brookline because my mom wanted to get a cake from Kribel’s Bakery, which used to be very good. The woman behind the counter was a nasty piece of work. You could tell she didn’t want to be there, and was just rude. We tried to get the last two glazed donuts, but when we got home we found out she gave us the wrong kind, and unfortunately the cake was bad too. It was a chocolate and white butter cream cake, but the chocolate icing didn’t taste chocolate at all just bland, and the icing wasn’t as sweet either. That place has really gone down hill, according to my mother anyway. She should know since she’s been getting her cakes from there since before I was born. I’ve been unhappy with them since last year when they messed up my birthday cake, and my moms cake a few months before that which had these little plastic looking shavings all over it, which was some kind of unasked for decoration, but it was disgusting, and it made me sick.

Finally a New Post

I haven’t updated this with a real blog entry in a while. Just haven’t felt like it. Mostly I’ve been watching anime and online at either Global PokédeX Plus or Dragon Cave. I finally got a Ditto on GPX (still looking for Lugia, Winter Vulpix, Mew, and Shaymin) and a vampire dragon on Dragon Cave. Now I’m trying to hatch a sunrise dragon. Edit 1/26: Finally got a Winter Vulpix on my fifth try. Edit 1/27: Mwahaha! Shaymin you are mine!

With anime I’ve mainly been sticking to a few specific ones, but that changed with the new season of anime. Those are Bleach, Prince of Tennis, Wallflower (aka Perfect Girl Evolution, aka Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge), Ouran, Nodame Cantabile, and Itazura na Kiss. Awesome, awesome, awesome, good, okay, …okay. I finally got caught up with Bleach probably about a month ago, and now I just love love love it. I really want to give it an 8 just for how likable and how much fun it is. But everytime I get the urge I have to remind myself of all the times it made me want bash my head against the wall. It’s a 7 anime. Prince of Tennis is still really good, but I’ve been on a break from it because they’re at a tournament and Ryoma’s up and it’s making me nervous. I loved Perfect Girl Evolution (which is known by three names, my preference being The Wallflower because it’s short and easy to remember), and it went on to become my fastest anime, I finished at three days. I was surprised at how quickly I connected with it, and how quickly it went. Ouran was good, and it’s in second place at 7 days, although I technically saw the first episode (several times) almost a year ago. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do that again, I just can’t watch that many episodes at once, especially of the same anime (except near the end for Bleach, I was at about 20 a day). Nodame is okay, and it doesn’t grate on me as much as Itazura does. I was hoping to get caught up on all the Nodame Cantabile series before the last one came out, but that was an unrealistic dream.

For the winter season I added Durarara!!, Ookamikakushi, and Dance in the Vampire Bund. I may start watching Hanamaru Youchien, but I’m not sure yet. I was so disappointed Kuroshitsuji 2 wasn’t going to start airing this month like some idiot on MAL said it would, but hopefully it’ll start in the spring. I like Durarara, enough for me to give it an 8 on the second ep, which is something I never do. I liked it so much it gave me a renewed interest in Baccano, which I am also finding myself liking. Ookamikakushi… well, it’s my own fault because I could tell what it was going to be like, so now I’m just hoping it’ll get better. The characters are so friggin annoying. Vampire Bund had one of the most original first eps I’ve ever seen, but the second wasn’t as good. I also knew what I was getting myself into there, but I’m weak and stupid. I’ve been downloading a ton of anime, so I’m going to be taking a break from the internet for a few days again so I watch it.

After several months I finally got out again, and to The Cheesecake Factory no less. Unfortunately it was Martin Luther King Jr Day, which is an official holiday here, so a ton of people and brats had off. We got there less than a half an hour after they opened and it was already packed. We were seated next to these “rich” women and one of them had thrown her big coat over the divider between the booths, so it was practically in my seat. I wanted to throw mine over so it would hit them on the head. People are so rude and obnoxious, they really have no concern for others. It wasn’t that great there either, and I was the one paying for it, so that’s minus $40. We should have gone to Red Lobster. After we went to the Jo Beth bookstore. Even though I hate them, I hadn’t read anything in a while except The Lovely Bones (which is an awful book, don’t believe the hype). They didn’t have The Shining or any interesting bios, so I got Ender’s Game, which I’ve been meaning to read for a while.

I’ve got two new fl layouts up now, my Maria Sharapova, and Amber’s K-ON one. I love the coding on the second one, it looks really good further down on the page. A preview of what will be the layout of my new anime fl collective domain Zangetsuki.org is here. I prefer my current layout, but I decided to move that one to Among the Stars since its layout only looks good in 1024×764. That’s if I don’t try to fix it with div id’s, but it’s so much hassle since I’m not used to that yet. I’ve been downloading a ton of textures for layouts and icons, so expect to see more, esp of the icons, I still have a lot to upload, and a lot more I want to make. I’ve already made over 100 Schneizel and Clovis bases, and I want to make more for other fandoms. Since he hasn’t been here in a while, and he’s really missed sharing his hotness in my posts, Schneizel once again gets to be my icon.

Back Online

Well I’m back, and much sooner than expected. I was without a computer for about 6 days, counting the half of Thanksgiving and the half of Tuesday. I got my new computer yesterday. We were supposed to go on Monday when my mom had off, but she called late in the afternoon to say she wasn’t feeling well. Then I got a surprise call early Tuesday afternoon with her telling me to get ready to go out to Best Buy since she had called off. Her and Matt had a fight and she didn’t get a lot of sleep, had been crying, etc, so she called off. She says they’ve broken up, then says she hasn’t decided yet, but they’ve been breaking up since I was 5. At the most if they break up it’ll be a couple years, at the least a few months.

Anyway I got ready and then after I was done (an hour later, it takes so much effort now) she said she didn’t know if she wanted to go all the way out to Best Buy after all, and maybe we could go to a restaurant in Dormont instead? I said that I didn’t go through all the trouble of getting ready just to go up the street. So she managed to drag herself out and we took the street car to South Hills Village. Even though they’re overpriced, Best Buy is basically the only tech place we can get to around here, besides the Mac store in the mall near there, but that’s way out of our price range. We can only stare longingly through the windows until the sales people chase us away. It’s good we went out then because at that time she had caught me in one of my mellow moods where I can go either way, and getting out and going to the store put me into a good mood, so I was very receptive and willing to look around. I guess it was a good time, because I haven’t been in an okay mood in a while. The first one we saw was not going to happen, a 160 GB hard drive. I would only accept that if I couldn’t get anything else. She showed me a computer she had seen online, an Asus with a 320 hard drive, 4 GB memory, 64 bit, 16″ widescreen, with a webcam and facial recognition, for $480. I’d never heard of Asus, and preferred a well-known, big name computer like HP or Dell. It was also pretty ugly, so we continued to look around. Then I saw a Toshiba for $430. It had a less features, and was a little smaller, but it was much cuter and cheaper since I also needed to get anti-virus and was hoping to get a wireless router. We couldn’t afford the anti-virus that day (right now I’m using a trial of Norton, I’ll be getting Kaspersky) and decided to hold off on the router and get them at the same time. So here is the laptop I got:

Toshiba – Satellite Laptop with AMD Athlon™ II Dual-Core Processor – Graphite Gray
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (don’t listen to them, Win 7 sucks)
3GB RAM
320GB Hard drive (actually 288/270)
15.6″ HD Widescreen
2 hrs battery
Prettiness

I’m so shallow. The pictures on the site do not do it justice. If I had a digital camera (like this crappy but cutie that caught my eye) I would post pictures of it. I also saw these three amazing wireless mouses 1 2 3, that are so expensive but absolutely gorgeous. I love them all, especially #s 2 and 3, but I think the third one would go best with my laptop. After choosing the laptop we had a slight ordeal trying to purchase it. The guy who was checking us out (and who had been giving us advice) was kind of a jerk, and then he couldn’t accept cash and had to send us to someone else. It was then while waiting we decided to hold off on the router. While there we also looked at the cameras, netbooks since my mom wants one, and the computer games since I haven’t had any in years. I think I own two: Sim City 3000 and the first Harry Potter game. I don’t know if any new ones I’d like to buy would play on this laptop, I don’t know what the compatability is for them. So far all the previous software I had Filezilla, VLC, KMP, even Paint Shop Pro installed and appear to work without a problem.

When we were leaving I told my mom I would have to think up a new name for the computer. I had previously decided on Poj, standing for piece of junk, but since I got a “nice” one I couldn’t name it that. Since it’s a Japanese computer I thought it should have a Japanese name, but then there’s the problem of whether a computer is a boy or a girl. I started thinking through names beforehand, mostly from different anime. Haruhiko was one of them, and keeping with the H’s I really love the name Haruka. All of my computers have been boys (except maybe one) and felt that this one was too, so Haruka wasn’t an option. So I changed the ka to ko since it sounds like it could go either way. My new laptops name is Haruko. I don’t know if I’ll be able to name my network, I know on some you can, and I’d like an anime name for that as well. After sifting through some Code Geass ones, I thought it should be tech related, and what anime is more computer and internet related than Serial Experiments Lain? So if I can it’ll probably be Cyberia, the name of the club there, unless I find a different one from it. The only issues I have with the laptop so far is stupid Windows 7, which may be better than Vista, but not XP, the touchpad/mouse, the internet cord not staying in, and that I’m forced to use a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 instead of my preferred 1024×768. Everything looks so much better in 1024×768.

When we got home we stopped at McDonalds and I got an Angus Third Pounder since I haven’t had one in a while because of my throat, and was bad and had 1 1/2 pops to get the burger and fries down, since its so hard to eat with water. I’d want to try their hot chocolate too, even though I’ve never liked hot chocolate when I’ve had it. Too watery. Hopefully theirs would be different.

Because Schneizel is Hot

He gets to be my icon this time. Haven’t posted anything in almost a month. Just haven’t felt like it, and I don’t try to force myself like I used to. I went out a couple times with my mom to The Cheesecake Factory, and stopped at Joseph Beth Booksellers one of the times, looking for a Stephen King story. I’m so over that place now. They’re overpriced and their staff is so rude and pretentious. You work at a Joseph Beth bookstore, okay, not the Louvre! We were supposed to go to Red Lobster the Monday before last since I haven’t been there in several years, but my mom decided to go out to dinner with my visiting uncle instead. The dinner ended up sucking btw. Then we were supposed to go up to Eat n’ Park today after she got off work today, since it was an early day, but I knew she had changed her mind yesterday when she didn’t mention it. Whenever she says we’ll go out on one of her early days I know it’s not going to happen because she never follows through with it then.

I missed last weeks Melrose Place, Modern Family, Cougar Town, the past two Mythbusters, and the last Destination Truth. I’m probably dropping Modern Family since I do not think it is as good as everyone says. But I still like Melrose and Cougar Town, and Destination Truth has been really good recently.

In anime I’ve made it more than halfway through Cardcaptor Sakura, and am up to 70 on Bleach. A few more episodes and it’ll be my longest series. The current is Monster at 74 episodes, and then Blood+ at 50. I finished my beloved Toradora early this month, and that God awful Romeo x Juliet (Tybalt, Francisco, and Curio <3 though). The new anime season started around that time so I’ve got even more on my plate now. Some I’m really wishing I hadn’t started like Book of Bantorra, Tegami Bachi (sorry Fukuyama Jun!), and Seitokai no Ichizon. Also regretting Miracle Train a little bit, but I knew what I was getting myself into there so it’s my own damn fault. I’m liking Kobato. and Nyan Koi, Kimi ni Todoke is okay, but Darker than BLACK 2 is really going down in points since they’re killing off all the original characters. It’s just Hei (looking really ugly) and a little bit of Kirihara until they kill her off, then we’ll be left with Hei x stupid Russian Mary Sue loli, and all the new people. The other anime that I’m liking… well Bleach and Cardcaptor. I’ve really grown attached to them, it surprised me how much I started liking Bleach. It really is just a likable anime with lots of likable characters. Rented Memories of Nobody through Netflix, it was fun. I like Honey and Clover, but not as much right now as I did when I first started it (same with Kyouran Kazoku Nikki, though that’s “don’t like very much at all right now), and Prince of Tennis, Trigun. Fate/stay Night is okay, it’s the next most liked. Shangri-la is eh, but I can’t move forward in it because I’m having trouble finding the episodes. The only thing I like about Beck right now is the opening theme. Saki… omg, I’m pretty sure I said this before about this anime, but Mahjong is so boring! And since I’m not yuri inclined or a guy, no amount of big breasted, short skirted lolis can make it interesting for me. Maybe if it was a Mahjong death match then it’d be interesting (or some hot open shirted guys with some bishies thrown in for good measure, either way). The first Gundam and Evangelion… so not a mecha fan. 07-Ghost can be okay sometimes. At least Ayanami is hot, and sort of looks like Schneizel, so that distracts me enough to forget the show isn’t that great, and keeps me coming back. Unfortunately that was the same problem I had with Romeo x Juliet. Damn you hot anime guys!

I really, really want to continue with my manga. No new scanlations of Gunslinger Girl or Junjou Romantica have come out yet (I hate you scanlators) but there’s lot’s of others I want to get on with, and some I want to start. I might just give up trying to wait for a different computer and start again anyway.

Hmm, health wise there haven’t been any major developments except my toes have started aching most of the time, and I’ve had trouble walking after getting out of bed. It’s not like it’s numb really, but like it has no strength in it at all.

And lastly, aren’t my dragons cute? The last two might be dead soon since they’re not growing up fast enough. It’s going to take my other eggs a while to hatch, and my Pokemon egg who knows how long to hatch, since they have to be feed/clicked/page viewed/walked and it takes a lot of it. I don’t know what the Pokemon will be, but I know what the other eggs will be here, here, here, and here. Aren’t they cute? The first one sort of looks like a panda. I’d also like a Mo, and maybe a Bunthoff (got one!). Too bad you can’t see what you’re getting. I already ended up with two Punbundu because of that.

Finally Saw HP6

I finally got to out today to celebrate my birthday. We were supposed to go the Monday before last when my mom had taken off specially for that reason, but she had to go to the hospital for her arm, then she worked last Monday. So I was probably the last Harry Potter fan to see the 6th movie in a countries where the film has been released. I went into it expecting the worst, and it didn’t end up nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It was by no means good though, and I was distracted through most of it. We were going to see the first showing at 11:45 but we went out to eat at The Cheesecake Factory first and ended up missing it. So we had to wait until 3. To kill time and to drop off our leftover food so she could hold it for us, we went to see my aunt Cyndy where she works. We were there for a while, and then wandered around Jo-Beth Booksellers. Their manga section is pretty small, only a bookcase and a half, where at B&N it’s around 4 bookcases full. After the film we went back to get our food and stayed there for 10-20 mins. We should have stayed there longer since some bad storms rolled through. We caught the first bus pretty quickly, but were waiting a while in downtown for the second while it was storming. While going home we saw a bus stopped with police cars and down near the bridge someone was being arrested. My mom said there were police by the river too, so someone else might have jumped in. We might be going out again tomorrow with Randy (someone my mom knows) to Red Lobster, as it’s been years since I’ve been there. My mom could change her mind between then and now though.

There weren’t really any good trailers before the movie. Just a mix of kid, teen, and “adult” stuff, like that stupid Shorts or whatever it’s called, Sherlock Holmes, and 9. Sherlock Holmes looks god awful. I knew it wasn’t going to be anything like the actual stories, but it looks even more unbelievably bad than that. 9 didn’t really interest me, but I loved the song that played during the end of the trailer. It’s got such awesome instrumentals. I’ve added it to my favorites list at Imeem.

A Birthday Post

My mother was home one night between then and now, and I saw her a couple times but mostly she wasn’t here and didn’t call. She also didn’t phone on the 24th but finally did on the 25th. On the day that she was home I finished the first season of The Tudors, and watched Transformers, and she was here I got to send the Netflix back sooner so my next ones will be here on Monday. Whenever I feel like I’ll do a review of both. Yesterday was my birthday. I’m 19 now. She waited until 11:07 to call me since that’s when I was born, and said she was just getting ready to get my cake and would be home at around 12. She actually did show up when she said she would, a few minutes after I’d gotten of the phone with Cynthia. I still didn’t get the cake I wanted. I was there when my mom phoned in the order for the cake so I know she said white and pink, but instead of white it’s a sort of ivory color. My mom thought it looked nice, but it’s not her cake. After she got home my mom called Cynthia to ask if she wanted to come out to eat with us, even though I told her Cynthia had said she wasn’t feeling well. Cynthia told her about Amberly’s (Amberlee?) birthday party which they were having on the 25th since her birthday was on Sunday. My mom thought it would be a good idea so she wouldn’t have to pay to take me out. That made me furious. Like I told her I’m not going to someone else’s birthday party on my birthday. And then she said that they’d be paying attention to me since it was my birthday as well and they hadn’t seen me in a while, which is bull. They’re only extended family, cousins and stuff, and I barely know any of them. Some I’ve only seen a few times before. I refused to go, so she took me to Eat ‘n Park. Despite that crap before hand, we did have a good time out. After she took me to a store on the corner called Moonstones. It’s a Wiccan/New Age sort of store, and I’ve seen it for years but never had a chance to go in since I was always with my great aunt and she’s very Christian. A few months ago they moved to a bigger location, so there two rooms and an upstairs full of cool stuff. I saw a lot of things I liked and my mom bought me this round box with a witchy cat on the top, and a beautiful picture frame with a dragonfly at the top and fake jewels all around the edges. I don’t have a camera (I did have a rinky dink digital one but had to throw it away because the batteries were dissolving inside it) so I can’t take any pictures, but if I ever get one I will because I love them. They’re the best gifts I’ve gotten from her in years. I’m going back there to get another Chinese looking box, maybe a dragon box, maybe a pretty green Indian looking scarf (it sort of looked like the colorful things they put over their heads), and maybe a shirt and skirt, depending on how much all of it would cost, and if I could even fit into the last two. After Moonstones we stopped at the used bookstore. She wanted to get Angels and Demons since she just finished the first book, and she got me Rosemary’s Baby and Queen of the Damned. I saw the Rosemary’s Baby movie and didn’t like it too much, but maybe the book was better. Queen of the Damned was a bad movie, and I hate Anne Rice, but I liked one of the characters so I’ve been thinking about reading it. They still didn’t have Stephen King’s Rose Red though, I really want to read that book.

My mom took off tomorrow so we can go see the Harry Potter movie and go out to eat at The Cheesecake Factory. I’m hoping we can stop at Moonstones again after that. Cheesecake Factory is the only restaurant we have left. We can’t go to the Huddle anymore because the past few times we went they kept screwing up our orders so I’m not going to put up with it anymore. We can’t go to Jamie’s anymore either, which pisses me off so much. Jamie doesn’t even own it anymore, Phil does. Phil is our stupid old landlord. We lost our house to him and now we’ve lost our restaurant. Phil bought into Jamie’s and as soon as he started the place started going downhill. He hired new staff (very rude and arrogant), changed the recipes (ruining my spots), and he even changed the name from Jamie’s to “Cafe J,” so pretentious. Jamie owed him money so Phil took it over. I think the reason Jamie owed him money was because Phil kept making all these changes on his own, and expected Jamie to pay for it as well. When Jamie couldn’t he just took the place over. That’s my theory anyway. We hate Phil, and we hate what he’s doing to the place, so we can’t go there anymore.

Great. My index finger, the one that was originally bothering me, and some more on that hand are feeling a little tingly. I’m never going to get to a doctor. Now my mom is talking about switching doctors, and by the time she does it, and they update my card it’ll be months from now. And I don’t want a new doctor, I want the one I’ve been going to. This is serious but my mom still won’t take it that way. And right now she’s more worried about herself, because her arm is swelling again from the bug bites she’s gotten recently. She’s worried she’ll lose her arm if it gets any worse. Huh, I’m worried about losing limbs, or getting blood clots, or being paralyzed, but it’s nothing, I’m being a hypochondriac. But when it’s her it’s serious.

Yesterday I told her how my only hope for getting a computer is Cyndy, and she agreed, and that she was going to ask her for help. She said again how Cyndy used to have a college fund for me, which I remember Cyndy telling me when I was little. But I don’t know how much is in there, or if it even still exists. She said if Cyndy did still have it I could take a class that I wanted to, like Japanese, or take off for a while. Even she doesn’t know what I should do. We’ll see if she changes her tune. I need to get medical help first, because I already know there are things I am not physically and mentally capable of doing, but there might be more things and I need actual proof.

Yesterday my depression alleviated itself for a while, but now it’s back again in full swing. At least I have something to look forward to.

Edit: Something to look forward to? HA! My mom just called from the hospital because her bug bite got worse, and they’re putting her on an IV, giving her antibiotics, and keeping her overnight. So nothing tomorrow, which means who knows when I’ll get to go out. She told me not to be worried, but why would I? If she was going to die from a bug bite she would be dead by now. She’s probably fine but made things worse by not doing anything about it. This would never have happened if she’d seen a doctor after it happened. No, she waits until she has to go to the hospital, a place where she’d never take me by the way. And yes, I’m thinking about myself. I tried to call Cynthia to complain to her but she didn’t answer so she must be asleep.

Outings

Last Monday my mom and I went to The Cheesecake Factory. The food was so good the first time, we just couldn’t wait again. My mom called the night before (as she was over Matt-freaks at the time) and told me to set my alarm clock because she wanted to leave by 10 AM. So I did, and I think I got up at almost 8. At almost 9 she finally called and said she was running late because she had deep marks on her face from sleeping. We get that a lot. When we sleep, and even when we just rest are arms on things, they leave an impression in our skin. Three hours later she still hadn’t called back, so I assumed she fell asleep and we weren’t going, so I went back to bed. A half an hour to an hour later she called and said she was on her way. I hurried up and got dressed again, and then we took two buses out to South Side. I wanted to get there early so there would be less people, but luckily it wasn’t too packed, maybe because it was a Monday. I didn’t get as much food as last time, maybe because it was later or there was a different person doing it. It was still good though, and the service was great. This time we also got dessert. Their website isn’t working so I can’t get their exact names, but one was a Godiva cheesecake, and the other was a Belgian chocolate with chocolate mousse one, which was the best.

That Wednesday my mom wanted to take her father out as a belated Father’s Day present, since the place she had wanted to take him was closed the day of. We went to Lunardi’s in Beechview. I had some type of spaghetti (most likely linguine) with garlic and olive oil, and both of them had different types of veal. My dish was okay, but nothing special. My mother and Pap Pap mostly talked about Italy (which she loves) and books (which we all love), and he had brought some books so he let her borrow some. One was something like Tales of/from China Town, another a Kippling book (Mark of the Beast?), and the last one which I’m going to start when I get the chance is The Moonstone. I’ve been wanting to read that for a while, since I saw an episode of Wishbone on it ages ago.

Today we went to see the movie My Sisters Keeper at Southside Works, and it just started off bad. We got there a little more than a half an hour early, and though they weren’t officially opened yet, it turns out that on Monday’s they show a kids movie for free. This week it was Tale of Despereux. So we paying customers got to stand outside and wait for about 30 minutes while all the free people went in. When we got in my mom was pissed off to find out the $5 day was only Mondays, although we both could have sworn the woman last time said it was both days. When we got up to the concession stand was and started to head towards the bathroom (because after going out and walking around you’ve just got the dirt and pollution all over you) a woman behind the counter freaks out and starts yelling at us for our tickets. There still wasn’t anyone up there to take them, even though there were about 6 people behind the counter. Then after we give her the tickets she starts yelling at us again that our movie is the other way, before she finally realizes we’re going to the bathroom, and announces it to the whole room. All the floor in front of the stand was covered in popcorn, all because of the free movie beforehand. I’ve never seen such a mess in a theatre before. People are so obnoxious (because there won’t only kids there), and the brats that did it themselves need to be taught how to act in public. But so many adults don’t that themselves, so it’s not surprising. The movie itself was also disappointing. In fact, I hated it, which is pretty rare for me. I’ll have a review of it up at ControverSHE soon, and there’s already one up for the book. Before it there were trailers for Julie & Julia, The Time-Travelers Wife, and some new Judd Apatow/Adam Sandler movie called Funny People. I guess Julie & Julia looked cute (rentable), mostly buoyed by the charming Amy Adams (not to overlook Meryl), and the last one looked like it could be funny (also rentable). Time-Travelers Wife did have an interesting concept when you get past all the other crap, but romance isn’t really my thing. Our bad day continued on from there. From the theatre in South Side we walked all the way to Station Square and waited about an hour for our stupid bus to get there, all because my mom didn’t want to wait at the stop near there. We got to Jamie’s early for dinner and late for lunch so we had to sit there for a while, and we got two snippy waitresses who were really pissing us off. The food was messed up, but I did get a nice “death by chocolate” dessert, not as nice as Cheesecake Factory of course. After that we went home. So that was the last three times I went out. We’ve been able to go out to eat and to movies so much because my mom has been dipping into our savings, but it’s not going to last. I don’t even know when we’ll get to go to The Cheesecake Factory again. I’d hope next week maybe, but I won’t hold my breath
