Best Adoptables Sites

Programs to use: Snap Links Plus, available as an add-on for Firefox and Google Chrome.

12/15/10 – Soon to be updated with another site, Zantarni, an avatar/role play site with pets. Check it out, and I’ll be updating this post with my own thoughts in a few days!

If you like adoptable/virtual pet sites this is the article for you! Adoptables sites are websites where you can create a creature and raise it through clicks from other people. You often get points for interacting with other peoples pets that you can spent on items or other virtual creatures. You’ve probably come across some of these sites before. There are so many virtual pet sites out there it can be hard to decide which one to join. If you’ve been thinking about joining an adoptables site, but don’t know which one is the best way to spend your time, here is my list of the best and worst adoptables sites. Feel free to sound off in the comments with your own opinions!

The Best

VDex Project – One of the many Pokemon adoptables sites out there, and in my opinion, the best. VDex Project is a very interactive adoptables site, which makes it one of the most fun. Unlike other Pokemon sites you have to actually “venture out” to catch Pokemon and buy Poke Balls to catch them with. You can travel, plant berries, gamble for Pokemon and items, and more. This sites currency is earned through displaying your party. Your party has an image code that you can link in forums and on websites, and every unique view earns money. When you join you are paired with a partner, a Poke human. Your partner will say things about themselves and their surroundings, and send you items if they like you. Once a partners affection is maxed out you can get an item from an NPC which is traded with another NPC for a legendary summoning item. Each partner gives a different legendary. Affection is maxed in different ways, from feeding certain Pokemon, to time spent on site. When you join you must also choose a starter Pokemon. This determines which region you start out in – Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, or Sinnoh. Some Pokemon are harder to catch than others, and some can only be found at certain times on certain days. Catching some Pokemon can take dedication. It’s taken me a couple days to catch some. But if you keep at it you can fill up your Pokedex quite easily. In my first 20 days I caught over 200, and now at 1 month, 17 days, have 331. This site has many things to do, and has a high level of interaction. If you’re looking for an adoptables site with a little more gameplay, this is the one for you. There is so much to do here you’ll never get bored.

Magistream – I’ve known about this site for a year now, but only joined last month. Magistream has some of the best pixel creatures around. Most are gorgeous, and even the ones that can’t be called beautiful are just as well made. Creatures are raised through clicks, some taking longer than others. My first creatures hatched all within a few days of getting them. But don’t expect click backs, the majority of users do not return clicks. You can get creatures from the stream on the main page, the Koi pond, breeding, quests, shops, donation, and trading with other members. Some creatures can only be obtained through breeding, questing, and donating. Donation creatures are purchased with crystal shards, and you get one shard per $1 you donate. Creatures can cost $2-5 and are only available for a limited time. After a creature has retired trading is the only way to get one. Shop creatures can be bought with gold, the sites currency. Gold is very easy to earn, and I managed to get up to 20,000 gold within my first week. You earn gold by clicking other peoples creatures, and by posting in the forum. The easiest way to earn gold is through gold mining, that is by clicking large amounts of other peoples creatures. Some members don’t like people gold mining in their keep. The best way to goldmine is through an image free goldmine site like this one. It displays just the links of creatures, not the images, so with a browser add-on like Snap Links it is easy to click thousands of creatures over a short amount of time. Also, the site only lists those who have volunteered their keeps.

GPX Plus – Another Pokemon site. On Global PokedeX Plus you get Pokemon eggs from the lab, the main page of the site, or from the shelter. In the lab you can’t see what Pokemon you are adopting, only the eggs description. You can find out what an egg is by googling the description, or from this LiveJournal. The LJ isn’t up to date, but it’s still a good for the basics. Pokemon are raised through clicks and feeds, and occasionally an evolution item. Items and upgrades can be bought in the shop. Money is earned through interacting with others parties. Items can also be found randomly around the site, and through sending a Pokemon underground. Legendaries can be bought via summoning items, and can occasionally be found in the lab through another members failed summon. Fossils can also be bought, and novelties can occasionally be found in the shelter, or in the safari zone. The site can be boring after a while as there is less to do the longer you are a member. Also, it is difficult to participate in the site if you cannot mass click. Mass clicking is interacting with large amounts of other parties. The current record for the most amount of interactions in one day is over 120,000. As money is earned through interactions, and only in small amounts, without mass clicking it is difficult to get ahead on the site.

Dragon Cave – A smaller, less interactive adoptables site, and a good site to start out on if you’re new to virtual pets. As the title suggest this site deals with dragons. You can pick eggs up from in the cave, or from the abandoned pile. Some eggs are more common, and others, like silver, are rare. Hatching the eggs is done through views, and it can take quite a lot of views to do it. Thanks to sites like Dragonnery, the processes is relatively easy. I’ve never had a dragon die on me before, and as long as you use a hatchery like this, your won’t either. Once hatched dragons can be named, but due to the amount of users, finding a name that isn’t taken can be difficult. The best way to work around this is to give the dragon a last name. I use li or vi Britannia from Code Geass (come up with your own please). New dragons are released about once a month. It is often chaos for the first few days, and it can be hard to get them for a couple weeks. Fighting up to 1000 people for 4 eggs can be a drag. This is particularly troublesome during the holidays. Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines eggs are released every year, and the previous years eggs are usually breedable. This is the sites busiest time. The best way to get holiday eggs is by using the browser add-on Snap Links, or a similar program. Keep refreshing and selecting the eggs on the main page, and eventually you will get one or two. The only other way to get eggs is by breeding. Some dragons can only be obtained through breeding (or in the Vampire dragons case, biting). There is no trading system on the site, and users trade using the abandoned page, which can be hit or miss as there is a very good chance someone else will grab the egg before you.

The Alright

Squiby – Squiby is a more generic adoptables site. They don’t have any adoptables themselves, the sprites are created by the members. The result is a wide range of adoptables in both style and quality. Those artistically inclined can create creatures for other people to adopt, and can set levels, passwords, and only allow a certain number to be adopted (a limited pet). Levels and the like are bought with points, earned through interacting with others creatures. Squiby adoptables are leveled through clicks. Because the users themselves create the adoptables and set the rules for their creatures the quality varies, and it can be very difficult to obtain some creatures. When you adopt a creature you can set its gender and name it, and adopts are allowed to share names. As a sort of game, some artists put passwords on their creatures, or have hidden creatures, where you have to figure out the answer, or find the link. I don’t find this fun at all so I don’t usually bother trying. Also, after a while you may end up amassing a large quantity of adoptables, I have almost 300, and it’s hard to keep track of them all. In the past the site has had many errors and a lot of downtime. I haven’t seen any recently, but it is still something to be aware of.

Valenth – These interesting creatures are leveled through feeds, and have different outcomes depending on what is fed to the creature. You can choose what is fed to adoptable when linking it (see an example on the image link above) if you want it to turn out a certain way. Valenth adoptables can be named, and it doesn’t seem like they have to be unique. This site is better for those who like RPG, as role playing is an essential part of the site. Like Squiby it has also had a lot of errors in the past, and is the main reason I stopped using it. The constant errors can be a hassle, and it seems like it is still a problem.

The Worst

Egg Cave – Do you like spam and being harassed? Then this is the site for you! If you don’t, then it’s best to stay away. The creatures are okay, some better than others, but the overall quality of the site is poor. I don’t know if things have changed in the past half year, but when I was a member it was nothing but spam and click begging. Most sites have strict rules about where you can and cannot ask for clicks, and rules about OT discussions. Egg Cave did (does?) not, and at the time didn’t seem particularly interested in any. Members would use the comments section of news posts to have long off topic discussions (I remember one was about Pokemon DP), and beg for clicks/feeds. They would also use the comment section of members profiles to click beg, and egg beg. Users would be repeatedly harassed to adopt their eggs out to someone. Even if you by some miracle escape the torment from other members, that won’t stop the owner from harassing you. Like many adoptions sites they have a cash shop, where for real money you can purchase limited creatures. Unlike most sites, however, the webmaster posts again and again in the news section to try and “encourage” people to buy. “20 more days to by Blooblah!!” “19 days and 50 minutes!” “Just 17 more days!” This is a spammers heaven. Creatures can be named but most names are already taken as they have to be unique. Eggs rely on clicks, views, and feeds depending on what type it is. The amount required for an egg to hatch varies, and can get quite high. If an egg or hatchling doesn’t get the amount of interactions it needs it will die. It is easy to keep an Egg Cave creature alive buy paying (with the sites currency) to have it fed. This keeps it alive, but doesn’t give it any actual feeds. It can take a while for an egg to die on its own, but can die very easily if taken off the paid feeding. Once the time paid for expires you must immediately sign your creatures up again, as they will all die in a week or less if you don’t. So, unless the rules have changed since then, as a member of this site you will be harassed constantly by others to click or feed their creatures, be constantly barraged with “requests” for your eggs, and if you don’t pay 100% attention to the site all the time, your creatures will all die. Have fun.

Virtuadopt – Yet another Pokemon site. I was member of this one before GPX and VDex. Unlike the other two, you can never tell what Pokemon egg you got, by looks or description. They all have the same generic Pokemon egg pattern. This means you can never actively search for the Pokemon you want, it’s all just luck. Eggs can take quite a long time to hatch, which makes the whole process even more frustrating. It’s very annoying to put in a lot of effort to hatch an unknown Poke only to end up with one you hate. The Pokemon are often ugly or strange looking, as the owner relies on one artists “interpretation” of the Pokemon, and cares little of what the users think. The promo and seasonal Pokemon are often quite cute, but difficult to obtain. You have a better chance of winning the more you click, but clicking on Virtuadopt is a difficult process. You have to click “View Virtuadopts” on someones profile or post in the forum, choose a box (some say don’t click), select all the Pokemon/eggs you want to click with a program like Snap Links, click the interaction link on each page, then scroll down to see if you’ve won. This takes a lot longer than most other adoptables sites. The website itself is also consistently slow for me. There is no need to think of a unique name when adopting an egg here, duplicates are allowed and it can be changed later. Most people name the eggs with a random string of letters. If you want to join a Pokemon adoptables site, I think VDex Project or GPX Plus would be more worth your time.

Avadopts – This is was is an Avatar: The Last Airbender adoptables site. The graphics for the eggs aren’t the best looking, but the majority of the sprites themselves are well made. Unfortunately the site has been having a lot of errors and other problems, including a troll hacking. Stay far away from this site and any other Avatar adoptables site. It is very unstable and you never know whether your adoptables will be there the next time you get on. This had potential to be a good site, if not in the hands of a weak-willed webmaster. On the 20th of September the owner had someone trolling the forum pretending to be Viacom employee. Despite the reassurance of members, and the owners own admittance that it was a troll, it has scared the owner (more his mother) so he decided shut it down, and might possibly create a new, “secret” one. The site does seem to still be there, however I will warn you now: if you come across this Avatar adoptables site stay away. Don’t waste your time on a site that may suddenly disappear one day because the webmaster is scared by a troll. The owner is obviously not mature enough to run a website, and will run at the first time of trouble (even if it’s only imaginary) if that’s what mommy says.

Honorable Mentions

Neopets – This is one of the classic virtual pet sites. I’ve been a member there since I was 14, and though I haven’t always been active, I am still a member to this day. I didn’t include it in my list because this is more of a corporation now. It’s not exactly an adoptables site, it’s a lot more than that, and adopting pets is only one aspect of it. In case you’re one of the few people who don’t know anything about Neopets here it is. On Neopets you create a Neopet. There are many available, some that you can only get certain times a year, and others that cost a great deal of NP, the sites currency. You earn NP from playing games, doing dailies, contests, and selling items. You can paint your pet, dress your Neopet up, train them for the Battledome, and do many other things. You have to be good at something to get ahead in Neopets. Whether you’re good at playing games, have very good reflexes, or just have good luck (and who has that?). Otherwise you’ll fall behind. Just like real life Neopets has a small group of wealthy Neopians, some middle class members, and a lot of dirt poor ones. So it’s good to find something to do on Neopets and stick with it. Without having a goal or hobby it is very easy to get bored or disillusioned with the site. Some people try to get all the avatars, training for the Battledome, get a Draik or a certain PB, customizing, etc. I am a customizer, meaning I like to dress up my pets with clothes, backgrounds, and accessories. With Neopets, just find something on the site that interests you and go with it.

Subeta – Like Neopets, Subeta has adoptable pets but that’s not the main focus. You earn sP (Subeta points) through games and other features. I really like Subeta and it gets addicting very quickly. Along with being able to change the look of your pets, you can also customize your human avatar as well. You see my generic starter avatar to the left, and a more developed one in the sidebar at the top of the page. Things cost a lot more on Subeta, and if you don’t know what you’re doing money can be harder to make. There are only 30 games, the majority of which you can only play every few hours. You don’t get much sP from them, and most are contests and other things you have to pay for. The only way to earn money on the site is through quests and restocking. I earned around 18 million sP in my first week through selling clothes, accessories, and a few potions/elixirs. However, the is one problem with this. Due to the small amount of users it is a battle to sell things. Everyone wants to have the lowest prices so their items sell. Because of this items quickly become no longer profitable. Items end up being sold for less than or equal to what they are priced in the main shops. Some members intentionally drive down the prices just to get a sale, dropping thousands price and destroying the market for both them and everyone else. In a matter of hours, one item dropped from 12000 sP down to 1501 due to the negligence of ignorant sellers. The problem is made worse by the use of autopricing. Autopricing is a feature available to Gold Account members, and it automatically sets the your shop prices to the lowest. Like everything else on the site, food and toys are very expensive. Once you use an item to play with your pet it disappears, and you can’t use it again. Food also does very little for a pets hunger, and doesn’t last very long. A pet can go from bloated to famished in less than a day. Rather than buying food and toys it’s a better to just put them in Lakeview Resort. This will keep your pet bloated and very happy for 100 sP a day per pet. Members tout the site as an older, more mature version of Neopets. The reason for this being it is not as censored, and some members say “it’s more violent”. Just because something is more adult doesn’t mean it’s not immature. While it is older, and lacks chat speak, the maturity level is about the same, especially if you are basing that opinion on the level of violence. Subeta has a long way to go, if this site wants to become more than a Neopets copycat they need to start thinking outside of the box.

Other Sites

I am not terribly acquainted with these sites, so I can’t review them, or deem them “the best” or “the worst” adoptables. However, the fact that I do not participate in them means that I generally do not like them, or have no interest in them. This is not a comprehensive list, there are many adoptables sites out there. These are just the ones I see most often, and am aware of.

UniCreatures – The quality of adoptables on this site varies. Some can be quite pretty and well made, others are not. There are several things you can do on the site, all detailed in their walk through guide. Like all other adoptable sites the main feature is the creatures. When you join you choose a starter pet and are given a guest account, and you can complete your registration later. When interacting with a creature you can feed them, play with them, or care for them. If you are a member interacting with a creature raises your chances of finding a mystery box, which can contain coins or an egg. The higher level your account is the more options are available to you, and the more you do on the site the more items and coins you get.

Dragonadopters – Dragonadopters is a dragon themed role playing site. Unlike other adoptables sites the sprites are animated. I don’t like the Dragonadopters creatures, I think they’re ugly. I’m also not a fan of RPing.

DNAdopts – A smaller adoptable site. The pets seem okay in quality, but not as HQ as others. You can adopt free pets, pets that cost virtual money (earned through interacting), and get some through random events. Some pets can breed, others cannot. You can find the sites guide in the forum under the Help and Bugs board.

Mythical Moments – A relatively new and bare bones site. There is not much here and there doesn’t appear to be much to do, and the site doesn’t seem to have a guide either, or even an about page to give you any kind of information on the site. Creatures can also die, which seems stupid considering how unknown the site is.

Flowergame – This is a good site for you if you like… gardening? You adopt seeds and the seeds grow into a plant. Um… maybe you should just get a potted plant? It would probably be less work.

Arvyre – Another newer adoptables site, and like Mythical Moments there is not much to it. All pets cost site currency to adopt, and new users are given 1000 silver to start out with. Unlike most other adoptables sites, money is only earned when your pet levels up, not by clicking other pets.

MyAdopts – MyAdopts isn’t actually an adoptables site itself, it’s a site that allows others to create other adoptable sites. If you see a site on this address, it’s probably best to stay away from it. The quality of these are usually very low, and there’s little to do.

MyWarriorCats – Some of these pets, like the Common Raccoon, Gray Wolf, and African Leopard, are very cute. Many are not. I also personally do not like the site. The virtual pets can get injured or killed, and when sent to the pound are “euthanized” after a certain amount of time. Isn’t there enough of that in real life, why do we need it online too? Many other sites delete pets that are abandoned or whose owners are inactive, but few are insensitive enough to say they “euthanize” them.

PokeFarm – Okay, I know all Pokemon adoptions sites will have some similarities, but come on. Earlier this year PokeFarm was a rip-off site of GPX Plus. And it looks like they still are, and not a very good one at that. If you want to join a Pokemon site, and you’re thinking about this one, do yourself a favor and join GPX Plus or VDex Project.

Pokeplushies – A better looking site than the above. While the site is called Pokeplushies they don’t deal exclusively in Pokemon adopts, and most Pokemon they do have are also artist interpretations, like Virtuadopt. The quality of the sprites and creatures seems good.

Mystic Grove – Another shoddy looking adoptables site with graphics right out of the 90’s. Even with NoScript turned off the site wouldn’t display correctly for me due to a Facebook application script on the site, so it was impossible for me to register to give many details on it. All I can say is I’ve seen the adoptables from this site, and they are not attractive in any way. If you are looking for an adoptables site with nice looking graphics, this is not it.

Warning: Dangerously Long Post Ahead

Okay, okay, I said I’d do this so here it is. Lately I’ve mostly been on VDex Project, Magistream, and watching anime. I also, over the course of 6 hours, got caught up with the Bleach manga, and ugh. I’ll talk about that later. I’m with Bel right now trying to get the heart scale I need for the Recommendation Letter quest on VDex. I have him up to about 188/255 affection, and have been with him around 14 and he has yet to send me anything let alone a heart scale. I’m also stalking the Gacha corner for the remaining starters I need, as well as trying to get Thief TM from it, which also gives out heart scales. So far nothing. I am one Poke away from completing the starter set I need for the quest then all I’ll need is the heart scale. Then I plan on switching to Yun and maxing him out immediately for Mewtwo, then moving on Allen for Shaymin. It’ll take longer to max him out, but after I do I’ll finally be able to switch to Lyrit, which is the partner I want. Lyrit’s so hot. And a crazy stalker. Edward you have nothing on this bishie! I joined Magistream a few weeks ago, and I really like it. I’m going to be doing an article on all the best adoptables sites soon, so I’ll cover that then. But for now you can see my Magistream creatures to the right in the sidebar. If you want you can give them a click to help them grow.

And yes, anime. Mitsudomoe is ending very soon! Luckily there will be a second season. I love Mitsudomoe! I didn’t expect to because the humor is pretty juvenile, and I don’t really like that sort of thing, but this show is freaking hilarious. Stupid, but hilarious. HOTD, also not my thing (say it Megan: highschoolhighschoolhigh school) I’m not a big fanservice fan (unless it’s fanservice for the girls~), but it’s too much fun. That’s the reason I don’t usually like zombie stories, along with other apocalyptic tales. They’re so depressing. And not in a good way. HOTD (where I am anyway – 7/12) focuses more on the zombie ass kicking aspects of it. You’re too hyped up on adrenaline to care about things like mass hysteria and the world you once knew collapsing around you. You’re watching people beat the crap out of zombies! This makes it seem like a zombie apocalypse would be fun! Kuroshitsuji II ended up being surprisingly awesome. But there I was at episode 10, loving where the series was going, and then my little anime world was shattered. I found out it is only 12 episodes. Just when I was thinking “oh, A-1 Pictures, I’m so sorry for doubting you” it turned into “A-1 Pictures you freaking creeps how can you treat me like this?!!!” MAL hasn’t listed the episode count for the time it’s been playing, so I didn’t know what to expect. I expected more than 12 episodes though! I feel cheated. They made us wait a while as they kept pushing back the date, then screwed with us about the new demon butler and master, and they finally managed to do a good story (the last Kuroshitsuji anime, which also deviated from the manga, was pure crap) and they only do 12 episodes. Though episode 11 and ultimately the final one could be bad, but TastyMelon hasn’t released 11 yet. Shiki also turned out to be surprisingly awesome. I didn’t love the first episode (I rarely do) and the animation put me off a little, but it’s turning out so good. Sick of sparkly, “romantic” vampires and vampire knights? This is the anime for you. This is how you do vampires. And damn that Murasako Masao is one strange looking troll. When I watch the next episode I will torment myself again and watch it at night – just for the kicks. I didn’t learn my lesson with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, or even the last time I watched Shiki. I just started watching it sometime after midnight and the thought occurred to me a couple hours later “maybe I shouldn’t be watching this at night?” and then “I really shouldn’t be watching this at night!” Did I stop? Of course not! As for the other airing shows that I am watching, it’s mostly just to torment myself. Seitokai Yakuindomo, I hate, Amagami SS, I hate slightly less, Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin just gets an “eh” from me, The Redundant Title of Redundancy and Nurarihyon no Mago… I’m dealing with it. And as for Ookami-san, I still haven’t gotten past the first episode. Unfortunately for me all the anime that I’m enjoying is either ending or possibly going on hiatus (we don’t know yet how the Shiki hiatus on one channel will affect our watching). And with the new season seeming pretty blah this is not good news for me.

I do at least have one currently airing television show here to look forward to and that is Destination Truth, with the hot geek Josh Gates. The new season started yesterday. I don’t have cable right now, but Syfy and Hulu both have the previous episodes available on their websites for a short time. The first Destination Truth episode of the season featured Josh and his team went to Pompeii to search for ghosts, and to Africa to search for a beast called the Nandi Bear. Destination Truth is an awesome cryptozoology/paranormal show that airs on Syfy channel. They go to places and investigate things that no one else does (they’ve even been to Chernobyl), and they found some pretty compelling Yeti proof that’s still being investigated by labs today. Plus, Josh is very cute and charismatic. So if you’re into monster hunting and cute geeks definitely check it out.

I realize I never said what happened after I went to the doctor the Monday after my blood test. He said everything tested normal except for the thyroid, but it way only low by a very small amount. He said he could put me on a low dosage pill for it, but I can’t swallow pills so that was out of the question. There was an injection for it (like I want to be around needles again any time soon), but it was in a large dosage. He also harassed me about going to the psychiatrist again, so after I get my MRI done I’ll go once and after that tell everyone to fuck off. I hate talking about my feelings and my person life. Then, why do you blog, you say. This blog does not detail my whole life, or even a small portion of my feelings. I do not talk about those things with anyone. I don’t like even being asked “how are you?” I only ever say “fine” when I’m asked that because a) no one really cares, it’s just a pleasantry. You’re supposed to say “I’m great” or “I’m fine” and then ask “how are you”, also not because you care, but because you have to. And b) it’s not anyone’s business. The details of my life and feelings aren’t anyone’s concern but my own. There is something I hate more than people being nosy, and that’s people telling me that letting them will make me feel better. Which is of course what I get when the psychiatrist is brought up. The doctor, my idiot mother, and Cynthia all say “it’ll make you feel better” or “it’ll help you.” Oh, yes, thank you for telling me what I really feel. I guess you all know my personality better than I do. What was I thinking? How could I possibly know what I’m really like, what would I do without your helpful input? BS. Ugh, just thinking about going to a nosy psychiatrist send my blood pressure through the roof. I need chocolate.

Absent minded webmistress – instead of align=”left” I put my icon as target=”_blank”. Stupid. And WordPress is putting my quotation marks wrong there, not me.

4th Birthday

I better do this before I forget again. Today is this site’s 4 year anniversary. It’s been online since September 6, 2006. At least I think that’s 4 years, I did fail math every year since the 7th grade… I’ll post something again soon, I just haven’t felt like it recently. But I can tell you the next post will involve my mother, my aunt, Kuroshitsuji II, Mitsudomoe, and Shiki. So, the usual. Since I’m trying to catch up with the Bleach manga right now, I’m using a Bleach icon.

Good Evening

I finally made myself watch the late night block on RTV. From 12-2 they play Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Night Gallery, and Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Night Gallery isn’t as good as The Twilight Zone. As for Alfred Hitchcock, they’re usually not that great shows, though some of them are pretty decent. The blame is partially on the censors back then. They had strict rules about what could play on television. One of them being the bad guy could never get away with anything. Alfred Hitchcock saved himself from having to show this, and would just say at the end of the program that the culprit had been caught. There have been some pretty nasty criminals on there, and you really want the bad guy to get what’s coming to him, but sometimes the so-called “victim” completely deserved it. Lonely Place (3-6) is one example to this. I’ve never seen the Lamb to the Slaughter episode, based on a short story by Roald Dahl, but I know the woman in that was surely apprehended at the end of the program, when she got away with it in the original (pretty hilarious by the way, the police eat the murder weapon). But last nights episode of Hitchcock Hour was the best I’ve ever seen, maybe on of the best stories of seen of anything in a while. It was funny, clever, well written, and well acted. It was called See the Monkey Dance and it’s available online from Hulu here, with many other episodes, including some Night Gallery ones. Body in the Barn was also pretty good, as well as the end of Final Performance. Part of the reason why I watch these is for Alfred Hitchcock himself. I think he’s adorable, like the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Cynthia went out with Naomi like she usually does on Fridays, and when she got back she took me down to McDonalds. We have to pass where my mom lives (and where I used to live up until a few weeks ago) and she and the white trash bastard were outside smoking. I was watching where I was walking, so I didn’t notice she was there until Cynthia said “don’t look.” My mother asked where we were going, and I looked at Cynthia because she didn’t respond or even turn her head, just kept on walking. Then my mom said in her whiny voice “You aren’t going to talk to me? Fine.” I told Cynthia she was angry because of that, and I was the one who’d get yelled at. Cynthia said she refused to talk to her while he was there, and she doesn’t owe her anything, and that my mom couldn’t be mad at me because I have no control over what Cynthia does. My mom won’t care about that. She throws tantrums like a 5 year-old, and the next time she calls I’m going to be the one who gets to listen to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if she threatened not to make my birthday cake (which she’s been saying she’s going to make since the 22nd). Cynthia says my mom is lucky I talk to her at all. And she should have known better. My mother knows I hate him, and Cynthia’s furious that my mom let him know where she lives, and now he knows what she looks like too. He keeps asking to meet her, and Cynthia says she has nothing to do with him, and he’s not getting in her house. I told her not to worry, if he tries to get in I’ll be ready to play whack-a-ass with the bowling pin. Yes, I own a real bowling pin.

My mother now owes me $40. The $20 she took in late spring (without asking), and she took the $20 Nita gave me for my birthday. She called yesterday to say Nita’s card came, and asked if she could borrow $20 from whatever she sent (it was $25), and that I could come down and witness it if I wanted. I’m not walking down the hill just to watch her open a card, then walk back up again in 90 degree weather. So I told her to just open it. She said she could have just taken the money, but thought she should ask first. It wouldn’t be the first time she took my money without asking. :yeahright: Once when I was 16 or 17 she did, and didn’t even bother to tell me. A few weeks later I found out when she said she’d pay me back. Then she had the audacity to get angry with me, for being angry with her. She couldn’t understand what was so bad about her taking the money without even bothering to pretend ask first. For some reason the concept of stealing eludes her. At least the bum finally got a job after over a month of being unemployed. It’s part time as a hostess at Pamela’s Diner. She better still look for a second job. I’ve only gotten $75 for my birthday (not including Cyndy’s money, which will probably be $40), including the $20 she took, and I’m not giving her anymore. She’s already taking my disability until November when it expires. I don’t see why I should have to pay for her cigarettes or booze, or any of the bills for a place she and her manwhore drove me out of. She doesn’t even have to pay for food, she gets almost $200 a month in food stamps, half of which is mine, and I got three TV dinners from it this month. Instead she’s using it to support the two of them, because he isn’t working either.

Choosing my icon reminded me – I finally got my Schneizel voice doll to speak! I thought it needed batteries, so I opened the bottom to see what kind (I told my mom it was the little round kind, but she still didn’t know what they were) and there were batteries in it, they just weren’t in right. I fixed them, and now every time I press the button Schneizel says “I think it’s wonderful.” I think it’s wonderful too, Schneizel! Well, another episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents starts in a few minutes. I better get downstairs.

Edit: The AHH episode was Lonely Place. It’s so disturbing.

Another Clovis Layout

After a little over a year, I have made a new layout for Lisabee.org. The first layout to grace LBE since its conversion to WordPress was “Artistic” a Code Geass layout featuring Clovis la Britannia, and it officially debuted 7/1/09. This is the second, and the second layout to showcase Clovis. It uses fan art from Pivix (credits at the bottom), and is titled “A Light Heart.” Amber mentioned the layout being warmer than the last one, and with that and Euphy’s comment about the warm colors Clovis used in his paintings, the layout was named A Light Heart. Why Clovis? Because he’s my favorite character after Schneizel, and he’s so underrated. You never see him in graphics, so I use images of him. If you don’t understand why he’s so likable find a translation and listen to the Code Geass sound episode Teikoku no Kyoudai. Clovis actually became governor general of Area 11 for Lelouch. I have been testing this layout out for a few days now, and getting opinions on it. I decided it was finally satisfactory and decided to switch them today. This layout was hell to work with. I spent at least 30 hours struggling and tinkering with it. The layout took a little while, with about 28 layers and 3 textures, but the coding was the real issue. There were a lot of problems with it (WordPress doesn’t like me) and even after those problems were worked out I still didn’t think it was good enough to use. Now I do. Please let me know what you think, and anything you think might improve it. If there’s a problem you see I want to know, so I can find a solution that my visitors will like.

Maybe it Was McGonagall

Mmm, food. I’m still only eating once a day. I said I would and I am, even though I’m half forcing myself to do it. After I went to Cynthia’s my mood stabilized for a little bit. The last blog, Epic Troll, shows that best. Then my mom called again (she was going to the store) and just hearing from her sent me spiraling again. She called again yesterday, Cynthia said because she wanted to know how I was since I hadn’t called her. So I asked why she didn’t call, and she said it was because I didn’t call her. Then she had the audacity to call me stubborn. When someone runs you our of their home, it kind of makes it seem like you don’t want to talk to them. If she wondered how I was (which I doubt she did) her phone works. We didn’t talk much, but she wondered if Kribel’s (a bakery) took food stamps. At first I didn’t know why she was talking about getting a cake, it took me a little while to realize my birthday is now three days away. She offered to try to bake a cake, but she doesn’t have any cake pans or a spatula so I don’t know if she will. She also still does not have a job. She says no one will hire her because she’s too old, but she’s not even 50 yet. I don’t think she’s really trying. Also, our disability hasn’t gone through, so she hasn’t paid the rest of the rent. She says she’s going to drop the internet for now, and later on we’ll switch to Verizon, which I think is stupid, stupid, stupid. I don’t like Comcast, but I’m used to it and know what to expect. I have On Demand, I have the channels I want, and the caller ID comes up on the TV screen. I also saw their packages, and until Comcast Current TV, Sundance, IFC, and other channels aren’t included. I saw my mom briefly yesterday when I took Cynthia’s money down to her so she could stop at McD instead of us going. It was so hot, and when I said Cynthia and I were planning on going down later, she offered to do something nice and go get it herself. When I went down I also took the opportunity to get my cat. My mom said Allie had been very depressed and kept looking for me, and I’d been wanting to get her anyway so I did. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep her up here though. The heat isn’t bad right now, but she hasn’t drunk any water or used the litter box since she got here, and Allie is a big water drinker. She gave the water one tentative lick, and stepped into the litter for the first time an hour ago, but she immediately got out. If she doesn’t get used to it soon I’ll have to take her back.

Yesterday my mom said she was going to try to get to the store today. She never went to the store this much when it was just me down there. If she goes today it’ll be the third time this month, and she’s gotten me a total of 3 TV dinners. One the first time, and two the second. Half of those food stamps are technically mine, and I’ll I’ve gotten are three TV dinners when I know they’re eating down there. After the second time she called Cynthia asking if she had a funnel because she was making ice tea, and later called again asking if she had a cheese grater and some pepper! She’s turned into Martha Stewart down there. I don’t remember the last time I ate a real dinner at “home”. I miss crock pot chicken and beef, shake n bake chicken (can you tell I love chicken), mashed potatoes (I love mashed potatoes!), garlic bread, and biscuits! Cynthia’s oven doesn’t work, and she doesn’t have a crock pot, so I can’t have anything like that here. The other day she did make some mashed potatoes though, and I think they were real mashed potatoes, and not flakes from a box. I could tell by the texture and taste. I’d mash them myself if it meant getting more, because they were so good.

The other day my glasses broke. It’s the same thing that happened with my last pair. The joint where the glasses close wore down, and the left temple popped out. With my last glasses, the temple was out and one of the nose pads had fallen off. I’d had them for at least 3 years. This one is around two years old. Cynthia says when it gets cooler she’ll take me to get my blood test done, get my MRI and CT Scan prescriptions from the doctor, and go to the eye doctor, since it’s all covered by my insurance. I’m sure my mother still hasn’t gotten her test done, despite her adamant declarations that she has cancer or something equally bad. I can tell she’s real worried about it.

I don’t know if I’ll watch any anime or read any manga today, but I’ll try. I have seen anything since the 13th when I watched the second episode of Kuroshitsuji. Another chapter of Kuroshitsuji was released, and a surprise release of Aiso Tsukashi, a yaoi I’m following (I do not like the new character, I’m only reading it because of Sawaragi). I have been listening to some BL dramas, Junjou Romantica mostly. Can’t understand most of what they’re saying, but I’ve read the manga and seen the anime so I know what’s happening. I’ve also been reading Japanese Code Geass fan fics in Chrome, with my very poor Google translation. Oh, it says the funniest things. The translations are really ridiculous, but there’s so much Shunaruru (what they call the Schneizel/Lelouch pairing) out there. I was also on the site Pivix, and apparently Clovis’s birthday is October 14? There were quite a few fan arts wishing Clovis a happy birthday for October 14.

I’ve also started switching over my old fanlisting site Among the Stars (x.lisabee.org) to my new one at boysloveboys.org, my BL domain. I really like the way the layout turned out. It features Akira and Shirogane from Monochrome Factor. Eventually when I’m done with this and have recovered, I’ll move all my anime fanlistings to their new domain Zangetsuki.org, except of course the ones that have their own domain like Code Geass. Usami Haruhiko (Junjou Romantica) and Kuba Homare (Okane ga Nai) will be on boysloveboys.org, since their both yaoi.

Besides listening to BL dramas, and reading Schneizel x Lelouch fan fic, I’ve been watching Dragnet. Pittsburgh has a station called RTV which plays a lot of old shows. Dragnet, Adam-12, Incredible Hulk, Kojak, and late at night Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Dragnet is very cheesy (they all are). The writings bad, the actings bad, and it’s like a long PSA. But I like it, mainly because I like Friday. I like his voice, and he usually remains polite and calm even when dealing with jerks.

Now, as for the title of the post, a strange thing happened the other night. I heard a cat meowing outside. I looked outside and one cat was sitting across the street, I think it is that persons (the one directly across the street from us) since it looked like a big cat, and she has a Maine Coon like Tiger. I went downstairs and Tiger was sniffing at the door (he does not like other cats). I looked outside, wondering if it went on the porch, and there was a cat there, a different one. The other cat was gone. It was just sitting there. It saw me looking and looked directly at me and meowed again. Then it jumped off the porch and walked across and up the street. It might belong to that woman too, she has several cats and she always lets them out when she’s home (it’s stupid and irresponsible to let a cat out anytime). I don’t know what it wanted.

I almost completely forgot! Every Avatar TLA fan should know by now about the new mini/series. Legend of Korra. I’d been hearing about Korra for a while now, but I didn’t think any info on it would come out until the panel at Comic-Con. Too bad it’s not coming out until 2011.

Go Team Shenkuu!

No icon of my own this time since I come bearing many gifts in the form of 100×100 anime (+ Amy Lee) avatars. They are Bleach (Byakuya, Ukitake, Neliel/Nel Tu, Yoruichi), Code Geass (Schneizel, Kanon, Cecile, Tianzi, Anya, Jeremiah, Lelouch, Kaguya, Darlton), Junjou Romantica (Usami Akihiko aka Usagi), 238 in total. More will be added soon including Bleach, Code Geass, Junjou, Okane ga Nai, Durarara, Kuroshitsuji, and other things on my anime list. Here is a preview, the rest are in the visitors section under Avatars/LJ Icons, in their respective categories and listed newest to oldest.

It’s the Altador Cup at Neopets right now. I’ve paticipated at least three times before, and this is my second year with Shenkuu. I think I was originally with Darigan, though it could have been Faerieland, when I joined and it started it was 04-06 so I don’t really remember. When I saw Shenkuu last year I knew it was the team for me. I love all things Shenkuu, it’s my favorite place (there needs to be more Neovia stuff too). I’m doing my best to seriously participate this time. If Shenkuu loses I don’t want it to be because of me. Other team supporters on The Daily Neopets have some pretty strict goals, but I’m trying to keep up with them. My goals are 5 for Slushie Slinger, 10 for Make Some Noise, and 600 for Shootout Showdown. I don’t have any for Yooyuball. I despise Yooyuball. In the past I’ve never been able to score any goals. Now I can usually get at least one and keep the ball away from the other team long enough to win. The most goals I ever got was 6, I don’t expect that to happen again. I’ve been pretty good with my goals, although it’s only my third day playing so it doesn’t mean anything. I did 670 the first day for SOSD and 923 the second. I’m now up to Level 4. I’ve never gotten past beginner before, so I’m really excited, though it’s going to be very difficult from here on out. I don’t think I’ll make it to All-Star (I personally don’t believe it’s humanly possible, so if you did it you’re probably a secret government experiment) but I’ll do my best and get as far as I can.

Dragon Cave released three new dragons. I never completed the last set, or the one before that and now I’ve got this to contend with. I’ve got two out of three from the latest group (missing Terrae), and 2 from the last one (missing Nebula), and only one legendary so no summoning for me. I did get a Cheese dragon though, I was surprised when I caught it.

I haven’t watched a lot of anime recently, new episodes at least. I rewatched both seasons of JunJou Romantica, and the Okane ga Nai OVAs again. Well, not all the Junjou Romantica ones, I hate Egoist and Terrorist so I skipped those. I’d forgotten how much I love the second season, it’s so romantic, and Usagi is so hot. Okane ga Nai was better than I remember it too. Fukuyama Jun’s voice can be a little annoying though during certain scenes. Speaking of OKG, DP Scanlations released volume 8 chapter, and it seems that this volume heavily features Kuba! I’ve always liked him, and apparently I’m not the only one since Kousaka Tohru makes a mention of all his supporters. The first volume of the Code Geass doujinshi Knights Anthology is supposed to be released in English in June and I’m really very tempted to get it. No, I definitely will, no matter how much I try to resist. I have a little bit of money left in my PayPal account that I’ve been saving for it. I own it in Japanese, but I’d still like to know what it says, even though it’s just short comics, and not very hard to follow. What I gathered from the pictures I liked. My favorite one has Lelouch going to the Black Knights headquarters to find he’s been replaced by another Zero, Schneizel in a Zero mask, and everyone likes him better. I’d really, really like the second volume, which features Schneizel and Lelouch, but that doesn’t come out for a good few months.

My mom is broke again. We were broke, then briefly had some money and I got to eat two cheeseburgers and McDonalds, and now I’m back on TV dinners for the next two weeks. This is very sad for me. Food is the only thing I usually have to look forward to in my day, so it’s even more depressing when it sucks. Like I said I had McDonalds one day, for the first time in ages, since they tore it down March 1. It was horrible having the construction going on, practically in the backyard since it’s directly behind us. Sometimes the whole place would vibrate and the windows would shake. It made me so dizzy and sick feeling when I was trying to sleep. The day McD opened my mom tried to go there after work and the place was packed, and I mean packed. The parking lot was completely filled, the two drive-thrus had huge lines, and inside was what my mom described as a mob. There was even people parking on our street and going there. All the damn busybody car owners all had to come see the new McD. They could go to any McDonalds they want, but they just had to invade ours just to see what it looked like. We’re the ones who have to live here with nothing around and no stores. My mom left and went back the next day. She finally made it to a store yesterday and they had my Hungry Man Classic Fried Chicken TV dinners I like so much (they’re absolutely horrible for you, but they taste so good), but she only got two. She rarely ever makes it to the store, so she should have gotten more than two (assuming they had more, which is pretty probable) or some garlic bread or something.

My mom needed to get her cellphone charger from Matt-freak because he didn’t give it back with the rest of his stuff, so she called his sister and asked her to tell him to mail it to her. I didn’t come for a while, and when it finally did it was in a dirty envelope, which my mom said looked like it had been dragged through dog crap. And it had an Arizona address on it. So besides making it as disgusting as possible, he sent the charger to Arizona and then had his sister send it from there. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s something seriously wrong with that guy. He has such a paranoid, persecution complex, they’re all out to get me syndrome.

Finally

Finally my sites are up again. A few days ago Holdfire decided to change their nameservers with only about a 30 min notice on Twitter. I was taking one of my breaks from the internet so I could watch anime so of course I didn’t see this. When I got online on the 24th none of my sites were working, and then I saw the notice. So I went on GoDaddy and updated the DNS info for all my domains, and some of my sites still were down. Two of them, actually, black-cello.org, and tokyoblue.org. Black-cello hosts Amber’s fls, and Tokyoblue hosts my anime ones. But all the domains would point to were a cPanel Great Success! page and cPanel 404 pages. Holdfire wasn’t the most helpful and wouldn’t directly answer any of my questions. Like when I submitted a ticket about it all they said was if I didn’t have a backup they could restore for me, I’d have to readd all my cPanel accounts and files. Then I got banned from the server for a while for downloading too many files something about too many connections, I’ve never had that prob at any other host before, and I’ve downloaded whole directories. But they said that it seemed that was the bulk of the problem I was having, and that I’d just have to make sure not to make more than 150 connections to the server. Once again completely ignoring my other question about the domains not working. I deleted black-cello.org and tried to readd it like they told me to, but it wouldn’t. Every time I did it said it wasn’t pointing to this hosts IP, and it said a different IP every time. After several times in a row I got it to add, but it still wouldn’t work so I deleted it again and started the process once more, the same thing happening each time. For some reason ns1.holdfire.net and ns2.holdfire.net weren’t working for those domains. So I switched them to GoDaddy’s parking and changed them back. Still wouldn’t work.

Eventually I found a different set of nameservers in my WHM panel as I was thinking about trying to add a new account with one of the domains and seeing if that would work. I changed ns1/2.holdfire.net to ns1/2.firedns.net. Still wouldn’t work. I had to repark the domain then change it to firedns before tokoyblue finally started displaying. I changed black-cello.org, put it back as an addon and that got it to work too. I have no idea why the regular holdfire worked for every other domain except those two, but throughout the entire thing Holdfire was thoroughly unhelpful. Not that there’s anything new there. I guess they didn’t know what the problem was so they chose to ignore it. That shows how much customers and their sites mean to them. And I know that I’m not the only one who had problems due to their screw ups that day. I didn’t have this many problems with Lypha even, well known to be one of the worst hosts ever. And even their support is better too, which is saying something. I guess that’s because Lypha is a real hosting company and not a “mom and pop.”

I’ve been thinking about switching to Shark Space, Web Hosting Buzz, or Fanst. I have uptime monitors on the first two, and I’ve used the last one before so I know it has great uptime. The only problem is I don’t have a lot of money to spend, and Shark Space and WHB both cost more than HF/FS do and I’d have to have a regular hosting account not a reseller. Those are really expensive on the first too, and Fanst doesn’t even off that or cPanel. The final and biggest issue with switching now is time. My account here needs to be paid for between early and mid April, and it’s probably going to be the end of March before I am able to get a Visa gift card. That doesn’t leave much time to get things up and checked. I’ve lost a lot of files before doing quick host changes, and I don’t want to do that again. I really don’t know what to do. I’ll see how the monitors check out before I make a decision.

On an unrelated note for some reason I’ve not only started getting a lot more spam at my fl email account, Google’s have a lot more trouble catching it. I can’t tell you how many Viagra and Meds emails I’ve deleted from my inbox that should have been easy to catch. One thing I’ve always loved about Gmail is what a good spam catcher it is. Haven’t seen this problem with my main account. And how many times can I say problem in one post?

Finally a New Post

I haven’t updated this with a real blog entry in a while. Just haven’t felt like it. Mostly I’ve been watching anime and online at either Global PokédeX Plus or Dragon Cave. I finally got a Ditto on GPX (still looking for Lugia, Winter Vulpix, Mew, and Shaymin) and a vampire dragon on Dragon Cave. Now I’m trying to hatch a sunrise dragon. Edit 1/26: Finally got a Winter Vulpix on my fifth try. Edit 1/27: Mwahaha! Shaymin you are mine!

With anime I’ve mainly been sticking to a few specific ones, but that changed with the new season of anime. Those are Bleach, Prince of Tennis, Wallflower (aka Perfect Girl Evolution, aka Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge), Ouran, Nodame Cantabile, and Itazura na Kiss. Awesome, awesome, awesome, good, okay, …okay. I finally got caught up with Bleach probably about a month ago, and now I just love love love it. I really want to give it an 8 just for how likable and how much fun it is. But everytime I get the urge I have to remind myself of all the times it made me want bash my head against the wall. It’s a 7 anime. Prince of Tennis is still really good, but I’ve been on a break from it because they’re at a tournament and Ryoma’s up and it’s making me nervous. I loved Perfect Girl Evolution (which is known by three names, my preference being The Wallflower because it’s short and easy to remember), and it went on to become my fastest anime, I finished at three days. I was surprised at how quickly I connected with it, and how quickly it went. Ouran was good, and it’s in second place at 7 days, although I technically saw the first episode (several times) almost a year ago. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do that again, I just can’t watch that many episodes at once, especially of the same anime (except near the end for Bleach, I was at about 20 a day). Nodame is okay, and it doesn’t grate on me as much as Itazura does. I was hoping to get caught up on all the Nodame Cantabile series before the last one came out, but that was an unrealistic dream.

For the winter season I added Durarara!!, Ookamikakushi, and Dance in the Vampire Bund. I may start watching Hanamaru Youchien, but I’m not sure yet. I was so disappointed Kuroshitsuji 2 wasn’t going to start airing this month like some idiot on MAL said it would, but hopefully it’ll start in the spring. I like Durarara, enough for me to give it an 8 on the second ep, which is something I never do. I liked it so much it gave me a renewed interest in Baccano, which I am also finding myself liking. Ookamikakushi… well, it’s my own fault because I could tell what it was going to be like, so now I’m just hoping it’ll get better. The characters are so friggin annoying. Vampire Bund had one of the most original first eps I’ve ever seen, but the second wasn’t as good. I also knew what I was getting myself into there, but I’m weak and stupid. I’ve been downloading a ton of anime, so I’m going to be taking a break from the internet for a few days again so I watch it.

After several months I finally got out again, and to The Cheesecake Factory no less. Unfortunately it was Martin Luther King Jr Day, which is an official holiday here, so a ton of people and brats had off. We got there less than a half an hour after they opened and it was already packed. We were seated next to these “rich” women and one of them had thrown her big coat over the divider between the booths, so it was practically in my seat. I wanted to throw mine over so it would hit them on the head. People are so rude and obnoxious, they really have no concern for others. It wasn’t that great there either, and I was the one paying for it, so that’s minus $40. We should have gone to Red Lobster. After we went to the Jo Beth bookstore. Even though I hate them, I hadn’t read anything in a while except The Lovely Bones (which is an awful book, don’t believe the hype). They didn’t have The Shining or any interesting bios, so I got Ender’s Game, which I’ve been meaning to read for a while.

I’ve got two new fl layouts up now, my Maria Sharapova, and Amber’s K-ON one. I love the coding on the second one, it looks really good further down on the page. A preview of what will be the layout of my new anime fl collective domain Zangetsuki.org is here. I prefer my current layout, but I decided to move that one to Among the Stars since its layout only looks good in 1024×764. That’s if I don’t try to fix it with div id’s, but it’s so much hassle since I’m not used to that yet. I’ve been downloading a ton of textures for layouts and icons, so expect to see more, esp of the icons, I still have a lot to upload, and a lot more I want to make. I’ve already made over 100 Schneizel and Clovis bases, and I want to make more for other fandoms. Since he hasn’t been here in a while, and he’s really missed sharing his hotness in my posts, Schneizel once again gets to be my icon.
